微軟發佈了RoboticsStudio2008的最終版本(RDS)。這是一個為機器人社區提供的，能在
各種硬體上使用的軟體平台，基於Windows開發環境，為業餘愛好者，專家學者和商業開發
者創建機器人應用提供平台，而且能夠提供可視化編程環境，讓沒有編程基礎的業餘愛好者
創建機器人程式。

RDS包括一個基於.NET的RESTful運行時，包括兩個元件：並發與協調運行時（Concurrency
andCoordinationRuntime，CCR）和分散式軟體服務（DecentralizedSoftwareServices，
DSS）。使用RDS，機器人程式能夠在微軟VisualeStudio和VisualStudioExpress中使用C#
或者VB.NET來開發，也可以使用腳本語言，比如IronPython來開發機器人程式。
